orangsch
2004/2005

First, 'orangsch' is an hommage to a certain structure which has fairly noticed overgrown Switzerland during some decades of late 'Modernism' .
Then, it is a serial work creating new facades with about 200 pictures out of existing ones, which are kept together by the comonness of the orange awnings.
3rd, there is a sociological and an architectural component in the work. The balcony is a bubble of the private into the public space, where the private becomes exhibitionist. The balcony is a space of the showing, seeing, and being viewed.

On the first sight, the series comes to your attention. But soon afterwards, the spectator starts to look after the changes, and starts to listen attentively to the individual opinions of the inhabitants. You follow the traces of the individual manifestations, which is thoroughly a human peculiarity.

The pictures change randomly, and with every new picture a random sound is played. But as a spectator you tend to semantically associate image and sound.
The individual manifestations of other people are always somehow arbitrary and exchangeable.
